　　年画(New Year Picture)是中国特有的一种绘画体裁。贴年画的习俗源于在房子的大门上贴门神(Door Gods)的传统。传统年画以精美的木刻(block print)和鲜艳的色彩闻名。主题主要是花鸟、可爱的婴儿、神话传说与历史故事等，表达人们祈望丰收的愿望和对幸福生活的憧憬。随着印刷技术的提高，制作年画的材料也不断增多。这种传统的艺术形式如今仍充满生机，深受人们喜爱。

　　New Year Picture is a unique type of painting in China. The custom of pasting New Year factures came from the tradition of pasting Door Gods on the external doors of houses. The traditional New Year Pictures are well-known for their elaborate block print and bright colors. Their subjects are mainly flowers and birds, lovely babies, myths and legends, and historical stories, etc, conveying people's wishes for a good harvest and a happy life. With the improvement of printing technologies, there are more and more new materials for New Year Pictures. This traditional artistic form is still full of vigor today and deeply loved by people.

　　1.第2句中的定语“在房子的大门上贴门神的”可用of引导的介词短语of pasting Door Gods on the external doors of houses来表达。其中“大门”指的是“房子最外面的门故译为the external doors of houses.

　　2.第4句的原主语是“主题”，为了使表达富有逻辑性和连贯性，在其前加上物主代词their，指代前面的“传统年画”。“表达人们……”可处理为表伴随动作的状语，用分词短语conveying people's...来表达“愿望”和“憧憬”同义，故只需译出一个wish即可翻译“祈望丰收的”和“对幸福生活的”时，用介词for引出并列结构,表达为for a good harvest and a happy life。

　　3.倒数第2句中的“制作年画的材料也不断增多”可用存现句型therebe来表达，译为there are more and more new materials for NewYear Pictures。

　　4.最后一句“……仍充满生机，深受人们喜爱”可用并列结构译出... is still full of vigor todayand (is) deeply loved by people。虽然前半句用主动形式，后半句用被动形式，但可共接一个系动词be。“充满生机”还可表达为be vigorous。
