四大名楼是中国四座著名的建筑，指山东的蓬莱阁（Penglai Pavilion） 、江西的滕王阁(Tengwang Pavilion)、湖北的黄鹤楼(Yellow Crane Tower)、湖南的岳阳楼(Yueyang Tower)。他们都因为各种各样的诗歌和民间传说而闻名。北宋作家范仲淹所作《岳阳楼记》，使岳阳楼声名远播，成为中国最著名的旅游景点之一。蓬莱阁因其“八仙过海”传说和“海市蜃楼”奇观而享誉海内外。中国古代的楼阁多用来纪念历史事件和宣扬政绩。

The four great towers are four famous buildings in China, including Penglai Pavilion in Shandong, Tengwang Pavilion in Jiangxi, Yellow Crane Tower in Hubei and Yueyang Tower in Hunan. They are all famous for all kinds of poetry and folklore. The story of Yueyang Tower, written by Fan Zhongyan, a writer of Northern Song Dynasty, made Yueyang Tower famous and became one of the most famous tourist attractions in China. Penglai Pavilion is famous at home and abroad for its legend of "Eight Immortals crossing the sea" and its wonder of "mirage". In ancient China, pavilions were mostly used to commemorate historical events and promote political achievements.
